United States Mint Three-Coin Set of Ellis Island Quarters Goes on Sale on September 14

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the 2017 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ – Ellis Island (product code 17AM) on September 14, at noon Eastern Time (ET).

Priced at $9.95, this set contains two uncirculated Ellis Island quarters-one from the Philadelphia Mint and one from the Denver Mint-and one proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint. The coins are held in a durable plastic card featuring an image of Ellis Island. A Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the back of the card.

The reverse (tails) of the quarters depict an immigrant family approaching Ellis Island with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. The hospital building is visible in the background. Inscriptions are “ELLIS ISLAND,” “NEW JERSEY,” 2017,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The obverse (heads) design features the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan.

United States Mint Releases Set of Enhanced Uncirculated Coins on Aug. 1

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint will accept orders for the 225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Coin Set™ (product code 17XC) on August 1 at noon Eastern Time (ET).

Struck in celebration of the Mint’s 225th anniversary, this set contains 10 coins with an enhanced uncirculated finish featuring a combination of laser-frosted areas and an unpolished field that accentuates design details. The process creates a unique contrast distinctly different from the mirror-like finish of proof coins. Each coin bears the “S” mint mark of the United States Mint at San Francisco.

The following coins from the San Francisco Mint are included in the set:

  • Five Quarters from the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program honoring Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa; Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in the District of Columbia; Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri; Ellis Island in New Jersey; and George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Indiana.
  • One Native American $1 Coin with a reverse design featuring a profiled likeness of Sequoyah writing “Sequoyah from Cherokee Nation” in syllabary along the border of the design. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES of AMERICA,” “$1”, and “Sequoyah” written in English in the field of the design.
  • One Kennedy half dollar
  • One Roosevelt dime
  • One Jefferson nickel
  • One Lincoln penny

The coins are presented in two coin lenses-five coins per lens-and packaged in a black matte box with a Certificate of Authenticity. Mintage for this set is limited to 225,000 units.

The reverse (tails) design depicts Alley Mill, a steel roller mill built in 1894. This merchant mill was used to convert wheat into flour. Much of the original milling equipment is still in place and visitors to the park can tour the mill.

United States Mint’s Annual Set of Uncirculated Coins Goes on Sale on May 17

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for the 2017 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® (product code 17RJ) on May 17 at noon Eastern Time (ET).

This year’s set consists of 20 coins-one folder of ten coins from the Philadelphia Mint and one folder of ten coins from the Denver Mint. Coins in each folder include:

  • Five quarters from the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program honoring Effigy Mounds National Monument (Iowa), Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (Washington, DC); Ozark National Scenic Riverways (Missouri), Ellis Island (Statue of Liberty National Monument) (New Jersey), and George Rogers Clark National Historical Park (Indiana).
  • One Native American $1 Coin with a reverse design featuring a profiled likeness of Sequoyah writing “Sequoyah from Cherokee Nation” in syllabary along the border of the design.

United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses using greater force than circulating coins, producing a sharp, intricately detailed image. The coins are sealed in a blister and displayed in a folder. One folder contains coins bearing the “P” mint mark and the other contains coins bearing the “D” mint mark.

2017 marks the 225th anniversary of the United States Mint. To mark this momentous occasion, we are proud to introduce for the first time a “P” mint mark on the Lincoln penny in the Philadelphia folder.

Inscriptions are “FREDERICK DOUGLASS,” “DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA,” “2017,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The obverse (heads) design features the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan.

Priced at $9.95, this set contains one uncirculated quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, one uncirculated quarter from the Denver Mint, and one proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint. WASHINGTON – The United States Mint will accept orders for the 2017 Congratulations Set (product code 17RF) starting on April 4 at noon Eastern Time (ET).

Priced at $54.95, this set features for the first time ever an American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin bearing the “S” mint mark of the San Francisco Mint. The coin is encapsulated and mounted in an attractive presentation folder adorned with black, gold, and silver ribbon curls to add a festive and elegant flair. A Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the back of the folder, while coin specifications are printed on the back of the sleeve. The Product Limit is 75,000. Later this year, the American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin with the “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint will be available as part of the 2017 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.
