Differences Bullion and Collector Issue 5 oz Silver Coins – America the Beautiful Quarters Program

Knowledge is power. It is no different here. Learn about the differences that exist between bullion issue and collector issue ATB 5 oz silver coins. This should eliminate the risk of falling prey to unscrupulous dealers that list bullion issue coins as low mintage, vapor blasted collector issue coins. The main differences can be summed up as follow:

  • All collector issue ATB coins have the “P” mintmark.
  • Collector issue ATB coins can be bought directly from the mint, while bullion issue ATB coins need to be purchased from authorized dealers and third parties.
  • The US Mint is selling collector issue ATB coins in individually packaged display boxes while bullion issue ATB coins are sold in monster boxes.
  • The collector issue ATB coins have a ‘vapor blasted’ matte finish. This while the bullion issue coins have a semi-proof to brilliant uncirculated finish.

ModernCoinMart (MCM) clearly differentiates between the two. This is a huge plus when it comes to finding a reliable source for these impressive American the Beautiful coins.

Blue Ridge Parkway: All-American Road

The Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, governed by the National Park Service, was established on June 30, 1936. This National Parkway, that connects the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Shenandoah National Park, is known for scenes of breathtaking beauty.

This parkway is recognized by the US Department of Transportation as 1 of 31 All-American Roads. These are American roads with unique “intrinsic qualities” that cannot be found elsewhere in the country. To be classified as such, a road needs to have 1 or more of the following “intrinsic qualities”: archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational and scenic.

Maximum Authorized Mintage – 2015 5 oz ATB Blue Ridge Parkway Silver Coin

Bullion issue ATB 5 oz silver coins are normally minted to demand, but combined the mintage of both bullion and collector issue coins are not authorized to be more than 65,000.

The collector issue has a maximum authorized mintage of 30,000 coins. However, the bullion issue of the 2015 5 oz ATB Blue Ridge Parkway silver coin has sold out at the mint on July 29th. It has reached a “total sold” figure of 45,000 coins!

This leaves a maximum authorized mintage of only 20,000 coins in terms of the collector issue. This presents an ideal opportunity to acquire one of these collector coins in top grade before the market catches on.
