2015 American Silver Eagles – Where to Find the Best Deals

Are you in the market for an American Silver Eagle or two, specifically the 2015 1 oz Silver American Eagles (BU)? Are you looking for the best deals available on 2015 American Silver Eagle coins, especially when shipping and hidden fees are brought into the equation? If yes, be sure to look no further, you’ve come to the right place.

American Silver Eagles certainly need no introduction here, so let’s get on with it…

Normally I only focus on the “Big 5” online coin and precious metals dealers in the States, but was prompted to bring two much smaller US-based dealers into the equation, namely SD Bullion and JM Bullion. I normally tend to focus only on the “Big 5”, because they have more experience and is normally better equipped to make the largest impact possible. I mean, if one is hoping to make a positive difference by equipping customers with the knowledge required to make informed decisions when it comes to choosing the right coin & precious metals dealer, it makes a lot of sense to have the primary focus on the “Big 5” where the biggest impact can potentially be made. However, I will entertain SD Bullion and JM Bullion this time around at the expense of Gainesville Coins and SilverTowne

Lot of 5 - 2015 1oz. Silver Eagle GEM BU

Best Deal in Comparison – Lot of 5 – 2015 1oz. Silver Eagle GEM BU

I want to prove for one that free shipping with no restrictions in terms of an order minimum, as offered by ModernCoinMart (MCM), is way better than to have free shipping with order minimums as APMEX, JM Bullion and Provident Metals have in place. All three of the latter force customers to place orders of $99 or more in order to qualify for free shipping. In fact, you cannot place an order of less than $99 if you wish to do business with JM Bullion.

Now while SD Bullion has no order minimum in place and offers flat rate shipping of $7.77 on all US domestic shipments for a limited time, it doesn’t mean that their customers are necessarily getting the best deal on 2015 American Silver Eagles.

Furthermore, I’ve decided to use an order minimum of 5 x 2015 1 oz Silver American Eagles (BU) in my comparison. This is because of the order minimum of $99 or more that APMEX, JM Bullion and Provident Metals have in place in order to qualify for free shipping.

In addition to the above, in order to keep my comparison as fair as possible, the following should be noted:

Live Pricing: The prices of 2015 American Silver Eagles have live pricing enabled at the websites of the relevant dealers. This means prices continuously update with up-to-the-minute market conditions. Therefore, don’t use the price data in my comparison below as a measure of exactly what you can expect to pay at the respective online coin & precious metals dealers. The data in terms of the comparison below was taken or captured at approximately 01:30 Eastern Standard Time (EST) – Tuesday, March 31, 2015. However, the results of my comparison shouldn’t be taken at face value, but only seen as a guide in terms of the best deals potentially available on 2015 1 oz Silver American Eagles (BU). If you’re looking for the best up-to-the-minute deals, then this comparison is probably not for you.

Least Expensive Option: I always use the least expensive option when doing my comparisons. In other words, if any seller offers “lots” and a volume discount, I will use the less expensive option of the two for the comparison.

Published Price Matching Policy: MCM will match or beat a competitor’s price as per their published pricing matching policy. Terms & Conditions apply that can be found here. This while SD Bullion offers a low price guarantee that can be found here. I stand to be corrected, but I am not aware if any of the other dealers in my comparison have published pricing matching policies in place. Nonetheless, I’ve taken no such policies into account in my comparison, although it is a real possibility that it might impact on final prices and/or deals offered.

Website Deals/Prices: I’ve only taken deals and/or prices quoted at the websites of the relevant dealers into account. eBay deals and/or prices were excluded as well as limited time specials offered at their websites (except in terms of the limited time special SD Bullion offers on shipping). This is to be able to as far as possible compare apples to apples and not skew the results in favor of one dealer based on short-term, special events.

International Shipping: I have not taken international shipping rates nor international shipping options into account, but I know that not all of the dealers ship internationally, and that those who do, more than one offer different international shipping options, some better than others.

Credit Card/PayPal Prices: I’ve taken a conscience decision to only focus on credit card or PayPal prices in my comparison. This is to keep my comparison straightforward and uncomplicated. The reason being is because most dealers are willing to negotiate lower prices when it comes to check/wire prices. Thus, I tend to shy away from those prices, because I try to keep the subjectivity of price negotiations out of my comparisons. This is to keep it fair towards all.

Other factors: When it comes to deciding which online coin & precious metals dealers offer the best deals, or best value for money overall, one has to look beyond the total cost charged (prices + shipping cost + hidden fees). Total cost charged is of course an important factor to consider, but the serious collector and/or investor also want to consider factors such as experience and size, customer service, consumer protection, payment methods, returns & cancellations and more.

Screenshots: I’ve decided to do away with tables in my comparisons and use screenshots of the respective deals instead. This should be easier on the eye and add to some extent credibility to the data provided.

Here is a list of the above-mentioned online coin and precious metals dealers, listed from best to worst, when it comes to the buying of 5 x 2015 1 oz Silver American Eagles (BU/GEM BU)…

2015 China Silver Pandas – Where to Find the Best Deals

Are you in the market for a China Silver Panda or two, specifically 2015 China Silver Pandas? Are you looking for the best deals on 2015 China Silver Pandas? If yes, be sure to look no further, you’ve come to the right place.

2015 China Silver Pandas 1

China Silver Panda coins certainly need no introduction here, although it is certainly newsworthy to mention the Chinese government’s controversial decision to stop inscribing the silver weight and purity on these coins. Thus, starting with the 2015 China Silver Panda, no indication will be given on the coin of its silver purity and weight (“1oz Ag .999”). This leaves a cleaner design, but whether it will be accepted by those who buy China Silver Pandas for both its precious metals and collector’s value, stand to be seen.

2015 China Silver Pandas 2

2015 China Silver Pandas 3

The 2015 China Silver Pandas are on pre-order at more than one online coin and precious metals dealer. Shipping is expected to begin early to mid-December 2014. However, the focus will only be here on the “Big 5” online coin and precious metals dealers here in the States, in alphabetic order: APMEX, Gainesville Coins, ModernCoinMart (MCM) and SilverTowne. Provident Metals didn’t have the 2015 China Silver Pandas available for pre-order at their website at the time of writing, so will not be included in the comparison.

I’ve chosen to make a comparison between the above-mentioned dealers, because they count among the cream of the crop when it comes to online coin and precious metals dealers. In order to keep it fair, I’ve decided to do a like-for-like comparison by taking price and other data from the respective websites at the same time, deal for deal. This was done on Thanksgiving Day this year (2014) between 08:00 and 08:30 EST.

Now while the respective prices are certainly not set in concrete and current prices will most likely differ from prices taken at the date and times specified above, it can certainly to some extent provide one with valuable insight into which of the companies offer the best deals when it comes to the pre-ordering or buying of 2015 China Silver Pandas.

So with the above in mind, I included the data obtained, in no specific order, in the tables below (best prices and/or deals in bold):

*For some reason MCM lots are currently priced higher than using the volume discount feature.

silvertowne table

In conclusion:

  • SilverTowne offers the best deals on 2015 China Silver Pandas if you’re in the market for less than 5 coins.
  • ModernCoinMart (MCM) offers the best deals on 2015 China Silver Pandas if you’re in the market for 5 coins or more.
  • APMEX and Gainesville Coins offer the worst deals on 2015 China Silver Pandas, but Gainesville Coins offer better deals than APMEX.
  • ModernCoinMart (MCM) offers the most choices in terms of 2015 China Silver Panda product options.
  • APMEX and Gainesville Coins offer fewer choices than MCM in terms of 2015 China Silver Panda product options, but more than SilverTowne.
  • SilverTowne offers the fewest choices in terms of 2015 China Silver Panda product options.

NGC Graded & Slabbed – 2015 China Silver Pandas

Now of course nothing is set in concrete here and the following must be taken into account:

  • Live Pricing: It is no secret that the prices of the 2015 China Silver Pandas have live pricing enabled. This means prices continuously update with up-to-the-minute market conditions. Thus, don’t use the price data in the above comparison(s) as a measure of exactly what you will pay at the respective online coin & precious metals dealers now.
  • Published Price Matching Policy: MCM will match or beat a competitor’s price as per their published pricing matching policy. This while, as far as I know, the others have no published pricing matching policy in place. Thus, while it was not taken into account when the above comparison(s) were made, it can certainly make a difference. Therefore, it is recommended to contact MCM before buying from any of their competitors, because there is a real possibility that MCM may match or beat a price on a given item. Terms & Conditions apply that can be found here.
  • Website Deals/Prices: I’ve only taken deals and/or prices quoted at the websites of the relevant dealers into account. eBay deals and/or prices were excluded.
  • Domestic Shipping: MCM offers free domestic shipping on all items while SilverTowne offers free shipping on a selection of items, including the 2015 China Silver Pandas. On the other hand, the standard shipping charges of APMEX are as follow: $9.95 (USD) for orders of $50.00 – $499.99 (USD), $14.95 (USD) for orders of $500.00 – $4,999.99 (USD), free for orders of $5,000* (USD) and over. This while the shipping and insurances charges of Gainesville Coins are “based off of the weight and value of the package, as well as where it’s shipped to” (as per their website).
  • International Shipping: I’ve not taken international shipping or the cost of international shipping into account, but I do know that MCM for one ships to a greater selection of countries than APMEX and accepts orders of almost any size. APMEX, on the other hand, has high minimum international order requirements in place, which makes it virtually impossible for the little guy to order from them. This while SilverTowne only ships to Canada and Gainesville Coins only to an undisclosed number of countries, although they also accept orders of almost any size.
  • Volume Discounts: All provide volume discounts, except SilverTowne. This can also impact on the results of the above comparison(s) made. This has also contributed to the fact, that although some offer the best prices when it comes to sending payment via wire/check, I’ve taken a conscience decision to leave wire/check prices out of the comparison.
  • Other factors: When it comes to deciding which online coin & precious metals dealers offer the best deals or best value for money, one has to look beyond the prices and shipping cost charged. These are of course important factors to consider, but you also want to consider factors such as experience and size, customer service, consumer protection, payment methods, returns & cancellations, etc. The bullion dealer comparisons and/or bullion dealer reviews at Bullion Dealer Reviews and Compare Bullion Websites take these factors into account. You may want to give it a read-through before making the next purchase, because the best price may not always equate to the best deal.

Now while the above is by no means extensive, it should give the prudent silver stacker, coin collector and/or investor valuable insight that can be used as a point of reference when he/she decides to pre-order or buy 2015 China Silver Pandas. SilverTowne and ModernCoinMart (MCM) are the clear choices here.

Elephant Coin – MCM vs APMEX

Are you in the market for an elephant coin or two, specifically 2015 Somalia elephant silver coins? Are you looking for the best deals on 2015 Somalia elephant coins?

2015 Somali Republic Silver Elephants

Somalia elephant silver coins certainly need no introduction here, although many coin dealers certainly need a lesson or two in this regard. The reason I say this, is because the popularity of Somalia elephant coins seem to be lost on most coin dealers. This seems to impact negatively, from what I’ve heard, on the supply of these elephant coins, especially at coin shows. Most coin dealers don’t seem to be knowledgeable when it comes to these coins. In fact, in more than one instance coin collectors seem to know more about the Somalia elephant coins than most coin dealers out there. I mean, how many coin dealers out there know for one that the extremely popular Somalian African Wildlife Elephant series kicked off in 2004 or 10 years ago?

However, as noted above, the purpose of this article is not to educate coin dealers in this regard, but rather to help coin collectors find the best deals on 2015 Somalia elephant coins, specifically the 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant coin. This coin is the latest issue in the Somalian African Wildlife Elephant series.

Lucky for us, some dealers are knowledgeable when it comes to these coins and they normally make sure they have an ample supply in stock to satisfy demand. Two of those dealers are APMEX and MCM… the two dealers that I intend to stack up against each other in order to see which of the two offers the best deals when it comes to buying 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant coins.

2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coin – APMEX vs MCM

ModernCoinMart (MCM) has just added a brand new selection of 2015 Somali Republic Silver Elephants to their inventory. This makes it the ideal time to see how MCM stack up against APMEX in terms of best prices and lowest shipping cost charged when it comes to buying 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins.

mcm-vs-apmex

I’ve chosen to limit my comparison to these two, because they count among the cream of the crop when it comes to online coin & precious metals dealers. In order to keep it fair, I’ve decided to do a like-for-like comparison by taking price and other data from the respective websites at the same time. This was done on 10/29/2014 at approximately 09:22 AM ET.

Now while the respective prices are certainly not set in concrete and current prices will most likely differ from prices taken at the date and time specified above, it can certainly to some extent provide one with valuable insight into which of the two dealers offers the best deals on the relevant Somalia elephant coin.

So with the above in mind, I included the data obtained, in no specific order, in the table below (best prices and/or deals in bold):

elephant coin comparison

Savings based on credit card prices…

elephant coin 2

Single Coin: MCM offers the best deal, especially considering that APMEX has a minimum order requirement of $50 in place in terms of US orders, $250 in terms of Canadian orders and $1500 in terms of orders from elsewhere in the world (Europe + Australia).

elephant coin 3 Lot of 5: MCM offers the best deal. You save $9.27

Elephant Coin 1

Lot of 10: MCM offers the best deal. You save $13.52

elephant 4

Roll of 20: MCM offers the best deal. You save $23.85

Thus, in comparison to what APMEX has to offer, it should be clear that MCM offers the best deals on 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins.

Now of course nothing is set in concrete here and the following must be taken into account:

  • Live Pricing: It is no secret that the prices of the 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins have live pricing enabled. This means prices continuously update with up-to-the-minute market conditions. Thus, don’t use the price data in the above comparison(s) as a measure of exactly what you will pay at the respective precious metals dealers now.
  • Published Price Matching Policy: MCM will match or beat a competitor’s price as per their published pricing matching policy. This while, as far as I know, APMEX has no published pricing matching policy in place. Thus, while it was not taken into account when the above comparison(s) were made, it can certainly make a huge difference. Needless to say, it would be wise to contact MCM before buying from APMEX, because there is a real possibility that MCM may match or beat APMEX’s price on an item (and vice versa). However, it won’t be necessary in this instance, since MCM offers the best deals across the board when it comes to buying 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins.
  • Website Deals/Prices: I’ve only taken deals and/or prices quoted at www.apmex.com and www.mcm.com into account. eBay deals and/or prices were excluded.
  • Grade: APMEX offers the 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) grade, which means the coins should grade anywhere between MS-60 through MS-62. This while MCM offers the coins in GEM BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) grade, which means the coins should grade at MS-65 plus. Thus, MCM offers coins of a better grade than APMEX in this regard.
  • International Shipping: I’ve not taken international shipping or the cost of international shipping into account, but I do know that MCM ships to a greater selection of countries and accepts orders of almost any size. APMEX on the other hand has quite high minimum international order requirements in place, which makes it difficult and in more than one case impossible for the little guy to order from them.
  • Volume Discounts: Both MCM and APMEX give volume discounts. This can also impact on the results of the above comparison(s) made. This has also contributed to the fact, that although MCM also offer the best prices when it comes to sending payment via wire/check, I’ve taken a conscience decision to leave wire/check prices out of the comparison.
  • Other factors: When it comes to deciding which precious metals dealer offers the best deal or the best value for money, you’ve got to look beyond the prices and shipping cost charge.

Now while the above is by no means extensive, it should give the prudent silver stacker, coin collector and/or investor valuable insight that can be used as a point of reference when he/she decides to buy 2015 Somalia 1 oz. Silver Elephant Coins. MCM is the clear choice here.

ModernCoinMart Deserves Its Title of eBay Top Rated Seller And Its Place in The Top 5 Bullion Dealers

There is a lot of talk about the “big five” precious metal and bullion dealers, with MCM, SilverTowne, APMEX, Gainesville Coins and Provident often seen at the top of the pile. These are the companies that are considered to be at the top of their game when it comes to selling coins online but it seems that MCM is running away from the pack a little with the experience they can give to customers. This guide aims to show customers, who are still unsure about the best place to buy gold, why ModernCoinMart (MCM) is not only seen as an eBay top rated seller, but one of the more respectable companies. It will do so by considering some very important areas: the products and services on offer, their respectability and accreditation with companies such as the BBB and their ratings from online feedback.

mcm_logo2

Services, payment options and accessibility…

The best place to start one’s evaluation of MCM is to consider their experience within the industry. This is a vital area to consider because it is arguably what customers are most interested in, a factor that helps to separate this company from the rest of the quintet of top names and one that ensures their place at the top. Having a good product range is essential and MCM stands out for the way that they offer collectable coins, storage boxes, books, appraisal estimates and assistance self-directed IRAs as well as the chance to buy gold online. Another interesting element about the customer experience is that MCM is the only company of the Big 5 to offer a 7-day service; if you want to buy your coins on a weekend this is the company to consider.

Another part of the shopping experience that really shows the benefits of dealing with MCM is the wide range of payment options and the transparency in terms of the costs. They are the only one of the Big 5 to have a published price matching policy and are completely upfront about the costs. While the others do not put the cost of shipping into the price, what you see is what you pay with ModernCoinMart. Additionally, there is no minimum order, with the exception of bank wires and cheques, and they also deal in both domestic and foreign orders for credit cards, PayPal and wire transfers – with some limits attached.

paypal

All of the aspects mentioned above are crucial for customers trying to make that important choice between companies. These factors certainly give a great idea of the service customers can expect to receive, but there is more to being a respectable company than just having great payment options. Buyers need to know that that a company is trustworthy enough to come through on these promises and sales claims and this can be seen via two means. Firstly there is the accreditation and affiliation with other companies and their related credentials; secondly, there is feedback from customer-based bullion dealer reviews and the relationship that they have with their current customer base. Let’s look at this more professional side first.

Reliability, accreditation and credentials…

One of the first things that stands out on ModernCoinMart’s homepage is the numerous letters and credentials at the bottom of the page.

Professional Numismatists Guild

It has for one both PNG and ANA members and published numismatic authors on staff, something that only SilverTowne comes close to when comparing MCM to the rest of the Big 5. What is also impressive here is the transparency in revealing not just their credentials but the details of those in charge and their experience. The company has only been in business for 10 years and has around 35 members of staff, which is fair compared to a long established company like SilverTowne that has been running for 65 years; however, they should not be seen as a new kid on the block either because they have 225+ years of combined staff experience. Right at the bottom of the page there is another set of letters signaling their status as a BBB accredited business, where they have an A+ rating. This accreditation is not rare with these top five companies but MCM still manage to stand out because they are the only company of the five to not receive a BBB complaint in the last 12 months.

SilverTowne, who have proven themselves to be MCM’s closest rival at this point, only had 3 while Provident had 23.

Customer ratings, reviews and “likes”…

This subject of complaints brings us to the idea of responses from real users.

The rating given by the BBB is partly the result of user experience and it is these online bullion dealer reviews, ratings, complaints and social media interactions that tell the real story of buying products from MCM. In this modern age of customer relationships, social media is playing an increasingly important role. Now while MCM’s Twitter presence may not be as high as its competitors, it did have a respectable 45,586 likes on Facebook at the time of writing, suggesting a friendly air and high customer satisfaction. Additionally, MCM are the only one of the Big 5 to have a community board on their official website that allows users to chat and discuss products and services together.

ebay logo

One of the best places to get an impression of ModernCoinMart as a customer-friendly online seller, however, is on eBay where they have an enormous amount of ratings to their name. As of August 19th 2014, they had 99.9% positive feedback and were named an eBay top rated seller because of a feedback score of 235152. This reflects their ability to ship items quickly and their track record of excellent customer service. For the past month alone, they had 9325 positive reviews, 5 neutral reviews and 8 negative ones. This is the first time that anything negative has come through with this company and these eight comments do need to be considered; however, there are so few complaints and the nature of them (shipment not received, questionable quality of the gold) are so general that it is hard to use them against MCM in any way.

Furthermore, they have looked into the criticisms in most cases to find solutions, which suggest they are a company that cares.

mcm ebay feedback

Despite the above, there are some that still find it hard to believe that ModernCoinMart is the eBay king when it comes to being the top precious metal and bullion dealer. I mean, consider the eBay ratings of APMEX that was deemed the big winner in eBay’s bullion store some time ago… 99.8% positive feedback, 151040 feedback score, 6997 positive reviews, 14 neutral reviews and 10 negative ones (over the last month). ModernCoinMart clearly has the upper hand in the eBay arena and knows how to pull punches.

Summary: When adding all these great factors together, it becomes clear that MCM is for one the best source for buying gold online.

Transparency…

The final verdict comes back to the idea of transparency; that ModernCoinMart are at the top of the list of companies to buy gold from online because they have nothing to hide.

john_mabenJohn Maben

They proudly show off all their ratings, credentials and experience of real members of their team, they have a clear pricing plan and they give buyers plenty of opportunities to vent their frustrations and ask questions should they want to with their Facebook page and message board. This leads to the second reason why MCM should be considered an eBay top rated seller and best place to buy gold; these resources have been provided yet there are very few complaints and negative comments to be seen in independent bullion dealer reviews. The ratio of positive to negative comments in terms of their eBay ratings is impressive and really helps to highlight the worth of the company as a reliable source of gold bullion, silver bullion and other forms of gold and silver, including numismatic and modern coins.

tube_label

There are areas where more established businesses are hot on their heels – SilverTowne coming in a close second with their own experience and ratings – but ModernCoinMart provides the full package of products, services, credibility and customer satisfaction that puts them squarely at the top of the list, not only as the eBay king when it comes to precious metals and bullion sales, but overall as the #1 rated bullion and numismatic dealer.

Bullion Dealer Reviews: Do Your Part

Bullion dealer reviews can play an important role, not only when it comes to giving recognition to the top bullion dealers in the industry, but also when it comes to getting bang for your buck.

Bang for your buck…

Bang for your buck should of course extend beyond the price you pay. Many times I hear folks say that dealer x offers the best prices, but when you bring the rest into the equation, namely the cost of shipping, years in business, ownership disclosure, staff experience, customer service ratings, consumer protection, payment methods, online order availability, product selection and other factors, it becomes clear that dealer x is not really offering value for money (or can even be remotely deemed as a great dealer). In short, when you bring bullion dealer reviews into the equation, it becomes clear that the lowest price paid is no guarantee of getting bang for your buck.

This has got to be the WORST experience I have ever had trying to give my money to someone to buy a piece of silver. They gladly took my money-gave me a date almost a month out THEN sent me an email that it would be ANOTHER month or I could sell my order back at a $40 loss.
